Danga Bay lies near the Straits of Johor and the area is known for it’s seafood. There are multiple restaurants near the sea where you can get a good sunset view while you enjoy your dinner, but we decided to go for one of the most popular ones – Grand Bayview Seafood Restaurant.
It’s a huge sprawling restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, and it was a short walk to get to our table.

Many of us are crab lovers so we went for the crabs first. As usual, one non-spicy one for the children.

And one spicy one for the adults. I am in the black pepper crab camp, but we settled on chilli crab so that we could pair it with mantou.

Fried mantous are the favourite – the adults dipped them in the chilli crab sauce while the children enjoyed them plain.

For greens, we opted for stir fried french beans. The girls are picky about their greens, so we only had a small range to work with.

Claypot clams in a garlic and wine broth – the children loved them.

When we eat at tze char restaurants, we inevitably order a serving of tofu with minced meat for the children.

Fresh Kampung chicken! It seems to be a popular Malaysian dish, appreciated for its smooth skin with less fat than regular chickens. The adults enjoyed it, but for feeding the kids, I prefer a bigger and plumper chicken where there is a smaller bone ratio to grapple with.
