Good Husband Patisserie

I’ve often heard of people popping over to JB to cafe-hop because of the abundance of very unique and pretty cafes there. The children love relaxing in a cafe over a book and a cake and an iced chocolate, so our outings often involve an afternoon of sweets and books.

I actually shortlisted multiple cafes for this trip, but due partly to the rain and the unanticipated local long weekend crowd, we had to make some adjustments to our plans, and this ended up being the only dessert cafe we visited.

There are many wonderful cafes scattered across JB, but this one happened to be just five minutes’ drive from our lodging so it fit very nicely into our itinerary.

The children were ecstatic when they saw the cakes and pastries and went about picking their favourites.

Ms Milo picked a lemon tart, we all took a little taste but she finished it rather quickly. It had the tanginess of lemon but not sour, so the children enjoyed it.

Can’t really go wrong with mango sago anything – it tastes exactly like what you would expect it to taste, sweet mango cream with the slight chewy texture of the sago.

Pops loves bread and always goes for the simple buttery croissant.

Love the tiramisu, didn’t care much for the white chocolate ring.

The pistachio latte slice was a slight disappointment for me – it promised coffee but I didn’t taste coffee, just a lot of cream.

The cross-section of the pistachio latte slice – it was significantly more cream than cake.

We had the usual drinks – their default lattes come with sugar. Remember to ask for no sugar or less sweet if that’s your preference.

I asked for the less sweet version of my roasted hazelnut latte, but it still ended up being a little too sweet for me, but that’s just a personal preference.

Hot chocolate requested by the girls, to keep them warm on a cold rainy day.

Mr Dino loves matcha, surprisingly, since not many children like the bitter taste of matcha. This had a really strong matcha taste, which was perfect for him.
