We decided to make use of the fact that we were staying near Taman Mount Austin to seek out food places near our lodging. This one was a mere 6 minutes’ drive away, is relatively new to the scene, and had good reviews.
Again, we initially had our doubts cos of the fusion type menu – it was local with some Sze Chuan dishes, but as we learnt from prior experience, some of these little eateries can excel in a variety of cuisines.

There were items on their signature menu – Liquor Clam Claypot, Mala Chicken, and Imperial Concubine Chicken. The owner was there and he patiently explained the dishes to us.
The Liquor Clam Claypot is cooked with rice wine with no water added, he said, so we are guaranteed of an undiluted liquor taste.

Mala Chicken was spicier than we expected, but always a must order when we see it on the menu, especially in Sze Chuan restaurants.

We were tempted to order the Imperial Concubine Chicken and the owner highly recommended it, but the children really wanted porridge so we had to pass on it.
They really love clams so we had three dishes with clams. Ms Milo insisted on the clam porridge despite us telling her that we already have an order of claypot clams.
The standard option comes without eggs.

You can choose to add on eggs (regular chicken egg, salted duck egg, and/or century egg) with a top of of a couple of dollars.
Ms Milk wanted fish porridge with eggs, so we got it with all three types of eggs. It is definitely recommended to top up for the eggs!

Mr Dino loves anything mala, so he went straight for the mala claypot clams, and we topped up MYR 1 for handmade noodles. He thoroughly enjoyed the juicy clams in mala soup.

Right in front of the counter, you will see a box of live clams. They scoop their clams directly from this box when you place an order.
The children were quite fascinated by it, and spent some time observing the clams.

Highly recommended visit if you’re in the Taman Mount Austin area, it’s also very near many many other eateries and dessert places, so even if you fancy something else or a little snack afterwards, it’s really convenient to move around from there.
