Taman Mount Austin now appears to be the most hip place in JB right now, and it’s home to many quaint cafes and popular restaurants. Hence, this trip, we opted to stay at an apartment in Taman Mount Austin.

After dinner, we decided to take a leisurely stroll to explore the area. Many cafes were bustling with young people and we were tempted to walk into many of them, but finally the one that caught our attention was a newish cafe called “The Grass”. It’s a unique name but we soon found out that the cafe is dedicated to grass jelly desserts.

I like to always get the signature item when I visit an eatery for the first time. It wasn’t clear from the menu that there would be red beans in it, but it came packed full of it, and of course, the signature grass jelly. The grass jelly was smooth and the red beans sweet and added a nice texture. It’s definitely a good price for the large cup and the amount of ingredients that went into it.

The kids immediately gravitated toward the mango ice cream dessert. This was served on a bed of powdery shaved ice drenched in condensed milk and drizzled with mango syrup. Mango was sweet and as expected, the kids thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Jade Jelly Iced Dessert was one of their most popular items and we ordered it because it gave us a variety of jellies and chewy stuff. It was served on a bed of crushed ice, unlike the mango dessert.

It’s very sweet, as expected, and there was a generous serving of boba and jellies of various textures.

Overall, a good experience, and the cafe had good vibes, and definitely a good place to visit if you’re roaming the Taman Mount Austin area looking for something after-dinner sweets to fill your tummy.
